    Steam Name: Malak

    Steam ID:
    STEAM_0:0:21883565

How long have you been roleplaying?:
    Four years.

Any experience having this auth before?
First as a note, you guys missed an 'i' in 'having'. But yes I've had many characters similar to this character, although none of them are exactly like this character. I enjoy creating new experiences for myself, based off fun/interesting concepts.

    What are you applying for?:

The character's backstory, and his demonic traits makes him a very formidable foe against fables. The only real changes is a slightly elevated state of healing, which is nothing compared to a vampires or lycanthropes, enhanced muscle fibers and the ability to read demonic scriptures as well as have a unique intuitive ability to sense evil powers(Not sensing fables, but anything hellish or demonic is really something he'd pick up on. So right now, no character like that really exists, which makes it useless.).

He'll use a medieval method of fighting, which involves a lot of overhead swinging and hammer like fist/elbow strikes. This also means he has no defensive capability of his fighting, it's completely offensive, which is actually a benefit in a way(Effect means of defense is to be offensive, as opposed to trying to block/dodge all their attacks, make them go on the defensive side as you assault them.).

In any case he'll be accurate with the arrow rifle and fairly quick when it comes to drawing his stakes, so against any fable, he poses a real threat to their lives. Specifically because he only goes after fables that are specifically evil and take pleasure in killing others, which means all his combat experience is against things like Lycanthropes, Vampires and Warlocks, who would have honed their skills in killing.

    And:

REQUIRED > Arrow Rifle(OOC a Crossbow) (A rifle capable of propelling arrows in rapid succession, at the cost of never having the strength of a fully drawn bow or being able to fire a full arrow, as the projectiles it fires are smaller. Keeping in mind a skilled archer can fire one arrow every 4-6 seconds if they put their mind to it, so this is barely more effective then using a bow. The rifle can hold up to twelve mini arrows in a sort of magnum styled clip that lies at the top of the contraption. The gun itself is covered in various Romanic symbols, with a holy cross bared on the front of the device.).

Duster (Lined with thin metal strips, capable of reducing the impact of striking forces and stopping minor lacerations.)

Basic Grappling Hook Gun (A gun capable of firing a grappling hook up to a total of 12 meters, which allows for one to enter buildings through unconventional means. Oddly enough though, in a pinch, it can be used to injure someone, if you were to prep it and fire directly at an unarmored target.).

REQUIRED > Four specially made stakes(OOC A knife) (Crafted in a specific way as to be used against someone in close quarters, with a slight curve to them as to allow slashing, so as to not make it too difficult to use. Two of the stakes are silver and the other two are nothing but wood.).

Silver wire (A simple spool of wire that may be used as a tripping device or if taken the time, turned into makeshift net trap. Although the latter is very impractical and time consuming.

    Why should you have this?:
The last application I applied for was pretty boring as it is, I found it impossible to find criminal work or any kind that would compel me to constantly play on the character. I also felt my character was very weak and well, undergeared compared to a lot of the other people around me. Lastly the character I recently applied for did not compel me to feel any essence of fun, moreso I felt bored, constantly.

I also feel this might assist in the combative against the GIANT swarm of unstoppable antagonist characters.

    Backstory:

Morris is a Romanian foster child, whom never had the opportunity to learn of his parents or for his reason of being abandoned on the street. Crawling up the steps of the Vatican Church, Morris was found at the age of three, most likely left there for his parents who could not keep him. Many in the church speculated his parents being vampires and having killed his real parents, giving him off to the church out of shame for their actions and others just believe, that his parents wanted Morris to live a holy life. Although all of this is just speculation and imaginative thinking, when it comes down to it, Morris was abandoned outside of the church for unknown reasons by unknown people.

The child would take on to become a holy man, the Vatican priests treating him like their own as they brought up Morris within the church. Teaching him various arts and crafts over his early years, here Morris showed absolute prowess in as he studied various ancient scriptures, mumbling random words that seemed to surprise the priests that trained him in literature. Unknown to Morris, he could read demonic scriptures, which showed some evidence to what  his parents were, partial demons.

It was unheard of during this age and was something that almost never happened, but no other explanation could be given as to why he read the ancient scriptures with such ease. For priests it would take days to decipher even one scroll, but for Morris, it took only a matter of minutes.

It soon became clear though, what Morris's talents really were, it was not specifically his uncanny ability to read, but his ability to hunt that marked him as an unholy monster under the Vatican. But still, even with his demonic traits, the Vatican still accepted him(slightly), with unapproving whispers always behind his back during his teenage years. No one really knew how much of the genetic traits still laid within him, his mother could of been a half demon or it could of been his great, great, great, grandfather, the thing was no one really knew, as there was no specific chart or measure to determine how effected one was.

Eventually though he was introduced into a sort of faction within the Vatican, The Nordium Order. Trusted members of the Vatican, whom proved themselves as skilled in some sort of craft, whether it be killing or weapon smithing, were thrusted into the order secretly. The point of the order, was to specifically stamp out the evil in the world, not specifically fables, but fables whom took pleasure in the killings of innocents. Doctor Kahl and his cult were one of such creatures deemed unfit to live, whom were the Warlocks responsible for disappearances within the Bermuda triangle. The motto was, if it was both hostile and a fable, you killed it.

The child became a warrior under the order and after many years of training, he was sent out into the world to combat the lessers of evil and then eventually, was tasked with some of the greats, where he fought warlocks, vampires and lycanthropes all over Europe and the Americas. While most of his encounters ended with Morris stumbling out of a burning building, covered in bruises and cuts, not every encounter would mean escape for his prey as he soon began filling up a mental list of his kills.

It was not obvious to him if he ever made a difference, as for every evil he killed, a new one would come to replace it a few blocks away or one would simply wake up from it's nap. But regardless, he embarked on his endless journey with his brothers in the order to rid society of monsters very much like him.

His journey brings him now to a city, with many fables and many evils, for where he will most likely be laid to rest.

Do you agree that you will use these responsibly, and understand these can be taken away at any time? Yes of course, inappropriate, overpowered or inexperienced actions guarantee a character to be taken from someone.

    Note:

I know the application may be a little more then usual, as I'm asking for a human with 1/9th demonic genes and some training from the Vatican order as well as the appropriate gear of the order. But point to it is this is a protagonist character, who does not use any conventional guns, fancy explosives or bullets, he's quite ancient in his way of fighting, even though he's only thirty two. But that's religion for you, the church tends to hold onto old methods of thinking and in this case, fighting. Arrow rifles, stakes and shit like that, which in some ways, are probably very inconvenient to use.

But they are useful to him because they don't rely specifically in someones aim, more as to their strength and speed. The character is meant to be more then a match for a vampire or lycanthrope of a median / young age, which is in a way, an attempt to make Vampires not be gods. Everyone IC'ly and OOC'ly are terrified of vampires, especially the older ones because they are almost indestructable. This is me saying, if accepted, not anymore, because it's time for the protagonists to deal some damage.

I will say this though, the character wont be making any PK's at all(If he manages to kill anyone at all), I mean I'm fine with him being PK'd. But even if I kill an antag, it will really just be for the sport of fighting them and trying to kill an anatagonist. I'm not really going to want to gear from them or anything(like other people), just want to take away a really fun experience and at the end, have them have some fun too regardless of if they die or kill me.

So you're basically applying for Van Helsing?

Anyway. Nothing really wrong with the app as a whole, but the grammar is pretty bad.
It's long though, so I guess that makes up for it.
Seems like an okay character, if not a tad unoriginal, but there are way less original characters.

Also, there is no "i" missing in having.

It isn't missing an I because I fixed it, although the characters name is similar to that of Van Helsing. I was more inspired by Vladimir Tepes of Dracula Untold, as to the nature of the character. I just found that the method of fighting in terms of the Helsing movie was quite interesting, in terms of the arrow rifle and the whole thing about the church being behind him.

But do not ever assume my characters, in any instance, server or novel I write, are ever specifically just some kind of rip off from another character. I take concepts names and ideas from various things and combine them into one specific thing. Places I've been, names I stare at across my table or characters I've created in the various novels I write in my spare time.

This character is based on two different characters from two separate vampire movies in terms of name, attitude and weaponry. His past is also based on specifically a very old story I wrote for a demonic character. The grammatical issues are there because of the way I am forced to create the application. If I were to do it properly I'd have to write it out similar to an actual story, which would take me hours upon hours. I only devote that kind of time to my books.

Although I write applications all the time I'm never specifically good at it, I'm good at roleplay because I'm writing in third person and it's me just stating what the character is or what he does. I don't have to give out every single bit of information possible because some mysterious figure needs to understand the character, in a story I can piece small bits of information about the character over a long period of time. Like in the series Firefly where you learn about the characters extremely slowly, the story never giving too much away.

In simple terms, the feeling that comes to me when I write the application is unhealthy, so it will never be of a decent quality. But on the server, it's quite the opposite, I'm detailed in every action I can think of. Especially passive roleplay, I like to talk about body language, tone of voice and most importantly, the current positioning of the arms, hands and legs.

I also have the benefit of being a martial art student and the son of a physiotherapist, so there's the understanding for how hand to hand combat works as well as how our body works. I was actually delighted to read Shanaro's guide, just looking at the part about Muscle Fibers fills me with hope that people exist who understand how muscles work (And hopefully how other things in our body work.).

Although I will admit I disagree quite a lot with Shanaro on his statement about the knockout punch, it's not all about a certain amount of energy and depending on where you hit, it can mean a lot of things. I mean, no matter what, an overhead swing hammer strike to the top of the head will cause a knockout punch because of the fact that it gives an absolutely overwhelming amount of force that could probably be enough to cause brain damage. But a punch directed with the energy from the hip? I don't think so, punches are weak and inferior terms of fighting and should be used by people who think Boxxing is actually an effective form of self defense (It's not.).

Also as a note, many of my male protagonists are a reflective part of myself, which is another reason why this character, is not a copy of the character you claim him to be. I actually feel outright insulted by that statement, I almost want to create a second application of the same character which shows the exact stereotype you are talking about, so as to prove there is a difference just to shame you good sir!

Lastly I've created plenty unoriginal characters, I just don't have fun with them. I'm kind of over that phase of creating a character so different that the roleplay must be stupendous, because it really isn't, I find it shit. Then again I feel a bit of a hyprocit because in a way, this character isn't exactly unoriginal, other then the use of the last name, the shady duster and the connection to the Vatican church, he's very much different to Helsing. I just couldn't think of a better last name and the Vatican Church sounded pretty cool. Vatican Church, sort of rolls off your tongue, maybe it's just me.

Anyway if it bothers you that I'll be some mindless gimp running around with an arrow rifle and staking every person who looks at me wrong, because IM VAN HELSING, HUE HUE. Than I will write you some roleplay examples, right after I pass out because it's midnight and I need to shave all my hair off. No joke, I forgot to do that.

Also as a reinforcement that I put meaning behind this, his first name is Morris because a specific Captain who shows up in a little story called Outlander, is named Morris Fisher the Captain of a smuggling vessel. He is actually a very similar character to  this one, in terms of how he acts and talks.

It just seemed very similar to Van Helsing. Seeing now you based it in part on a movie about Dracula, which is based off the Dracula from BramStroker, which is where Van Helsing originated, there's obviously going to be some ties to the character.
Most vampire hunters are based on the tropes Van Helsing set, so that it also it.
It's mostly just the name, his weaponry, partially his backstory, and his duster coat that remind me of it.
A lot of renditions of Van Helsing have him as a religious person or someone that has ties to religion in a duster jacket that uses similar weaponry to your character.
Don't feel insulted, most characters are going to fit tropes or cliched tropes one way or another.

Can you clear up exactly what "Demonic Traits" entail?

EDIT: I made some modifications to his physical powers and also appearance as I've read up a little on some rosters. It looks like there is a massive amount of fables whom could royally fuck his shit up without trying very hard. So I decided to up his ante and as a consequence, placed some negative traits to his physical prowess.

The point of this character is that most of his fighting will be hand to hand, I imagine if he ever faces an adept or anything remotely at that level, he'll have his arrow rifle slapped out of his hand before he can land even one shot. Which then places it down to hand to hand combat, in which case, I want him to not be guaranteed to die. Because I doubt anyone, that is not an absolute fledgeling to get killed by the arrow rifle, it's the nature of others to say *The arrows miss* *They only scrape the skin* *They barely phase him*, etcetera. So therefore, like I said, all his battles will most likely be determined in stake to hand combat.

I mean evil characters are never weak, if someone is an antagonist, it's because their character possesses some kind of strength. I probably wouldn't need to modify his strength from slightly amplified, to the level it is as per below if the majority of fable antagonists were in terms normal in speed, but it's doubtful that he'll ever face something that is actually close to the strength of a human. I'm open to discussion though about this, if it seems unfair.

    - Minor Healing (He'll heal slightly faster then normal and it's barely there, this guy is only 1/9th demon, so he's barely elevated in terms of that. But in any case his blood clots fairly quickly and he's less prone to bleeding out or dying from his critical wounds, it's really more about how fast his blood clots. This trait is really about just surviving, so that's all it does, it lets him survive, but barely.).

    - Very Heightened Strength / Speed / Reaction (This allows for him to be able to engage in stake to hand combat against vampires / werewolves, without becoming instant cannon fodder because he's human, giving him the ability to stand a real chance against those he might face. This is more focused on speed and reaction speed then strength, he's not going to be as strong as he is quick.)

    - He has the faintest red hue to his right eye when angered. In extreme cases of anger, which he has never experienced, so this will be new to him if it does happen, his skin will harden and crust around his face and body. Which provides barely any cushion against blows, moreso making him just look really grotesque looking if it does happen. Since you know, the skin doesn't really protect against blows, the muscle does that.).

    - Vampires and Lycans alike will mistake his scent for that of a snake, as he gives off confusing pheromones, which could very well give away his non human aspects.

    - He has the inability to kill something unless he can personally deem it evil or unworthy of it's life, which will take some convincing. There's rarely spur of the moment killings for Morris, his decisions are ethical, right down to the ethics of the Order and there is no morale decision behind it. Someone can insult him, slap him across the face and steal his gun, but he will never kill them or even injure them critically. WHICH I HOPE NO ONE METAGAMES.

    - He can read demonic scriptures and if he's close enough, tell if someone is demonic. Right now both of these are absolutely useless because I don't think there are any demonic characters on server. But it's part of his backstory anyhow. If he gets to see a demon character or get into close contact, he might be able to pick up on the foreign tongue, although then again, he will most likely not survive any encounter, unless they are merciful.

Also as a note, he's not really a vampire hunter. I mean it really depends on what the main antagonist base is. If the majority of antags are vampires, then he'll be hunting vampires, but I mean, it really depends. The point is just killing monsters in general is his forte, there's a bias against fables, because it's not his job to kill humans, he takes cares of the things the police cannot, regardless of if they want him or the order to do so.

Just a question. Could this character possibly have an antiques shop where he could perform metallic/watch repairs and sell various things like mace, telescopic batons, paintings, etcetera. Basically a shop where only IC items are sold, which could create some roleplay. I really don't want this character to only do combat, so having a shop or something like that would be fairly fun. This is not really part of the application, moreso a question of if I can try that out.

Inspiration for the antiques store is that old vampire hunter from 'The Strain'. He had that cool antiques store and it was always empty, but so cool.

    This is the one:

The store also gives him the ability to possible make his gear better. Currently his arrow rifle is probably very ineffective, while if he were to strike some solid hits, it's all fine and dandy, compared to using a rifle, it's not very effective. So amplifications of his gear over time, in his shop(Which I will ask permission for, before doing so), will allow him to progress furtherly. As opposed to someone who just buys a bigger gun each time, he'll just modify what he has through metal working, bending or just sending his gear for a period of time back to the Vatican where they could do better work then himself. Although, that probably wont happen as Morris having his gear overseas for an extended period of time would make him far too easy to kill. Quite simply, this man is fucked without his arrow gun / stakes.

It looks good, but i'd like more specifics on "Very Heightened Strength / Speed / Reaction". The vampires have numbers (roughly) placed on them, so maybe get some real numbers rather than "Very"

Well he's going to be fighting most likely Nosferatu or Sanguine vampires, Lycans aren't super fast, they are just very big and that kind of problem can be solved. It's moreso that in a fight against a mature or what you might call adult vampire, he can actually keep up with them. If I could say in terms of speed, I just want it to be enough that he's a match for them. Like I said, his arrow rifle is probably going to be the most useless thing he has, because most people will never say their character is fatally wounded by it, it's just the way people are.

Therefore it boils down to, stake to hand combat. In which case, if he was regular as a human, he'd lose every single time. Although I don't know exactly how fast vampires are and how fast you would need to be able to actually fight them long enough to drive some sort of stake into them. Reaction time is just to accommodate the speed, being very fast is nothing if you can't react to something fast as well. If he's just really quick with his hands, that means nothing, because without a fast reaction speed he can't exactly respond to an attack. Like the guide says, vampires movements are seen as a blur, I'd rather it not be a complete blur and have him able to foresee and possibly avoid what might be, a death dealing punch.

I mean even if he has speed enough to actually not die in an instant when fighting someone like a Sanguine or Adept, that's only talking hand to hand. The real point of it is, I want him to be able to keep up with them and not have someone say /me punches him before he can draw his stake or /me dodges his fist because uber sick skillz. I want there to be a legitimate fight where it's not death row for him if he ever goes up against an Adept.

I have no problems with Lycans, because in their wolf form you can deal with them. They are fucking huge and they will fuck your shit up, but they aren't some hazy blurry ninja, you have a chance to shoot them and if you miss, well your fucked, but still. A CHANCE! Also as a reinforcement, vampires seem to like to dodge bullets or barely be effected by them, not that they pull Matrix shit, it just is apparent that there's an anti bullet field which envelopes certain vampires. If we're talking arrows here, no go, not even something I want to bother with. If they're running and he's firing his arrows, I can protest all I want in LOOC, it's probably not going to hit them and if it does it only just phases them.

Also while this character might be seen as strong when it comes to fighting fables, as a reminder, there are no PK's or item stealing. I have no intention of being the shittest part to someone's day or to end someone's story, both parties need to leave a combat being somewhat happy at least. If he dies, he can get PK'd, whatever. The point really is the roleplay and less so the consequences of what happens, so losing or winning doesn't become a huge effect when you don't have the intentions of taking away anything from a person and simply wish to roleplay. Although that's roleplay for me, I like to have people die and I like to die, very dramatically I might add, with some meaningful last words as I grasp at my blood gushing stomach. But there should be consequence of death between myself and those involved in it, for it is an advancement of roleplay and a scene played out by various people. If you survive it, you can advance your story and add X event to your characters experience, or if you die you have to forget what happened, boo.
